Study group Balkans in the Polder is working on a publication about bottom-up urban planning. The document, designed by Ankie Stoutjesdijk, is one of the outcomes of What’s up, what’s down. Cultural catalysts in Urban Space, the 2010 research trip of former Fonds BKVB. I am responsible for the photographs in the book, which is presented Summer 2012. More info soon.

From December 2010 on seven of my videos are part of the urban screen CASZuidas, Contemporary Art Screen Zuidas in Amsterdam. 40.000 Feet, Oscarland, Godot in Cuba, Dwelling (online soon), Parade, Video and VLAG were selected by curator Jan Schuijren.

Photographer Shareef Sarhan from Gaza and I provided the photos for the book Palestinian Territories, part of the Dutch series Landenreeks. I documented people and places in the Westbank during my residency in Jordan.

After five years the neon work Li(e)ve is back in Flemish Cultural Centre De Brakke Grond in Amsterdam. From August till December 2011 the installation functions as a meeting point in the hall.

In the exhibition Kunst moet rollen curated by Elias Tieleman, artists express their opinion on the topic art & money and reveal inside information. CBK Utrecht, opening October 20 at 8 PM, lasts till November 20.

From October 23 till 26 the study group 'Balkans in the Polder' organizes an expert meeting about bottom-up urban planning. The meeting takes place in The Hague and is an outcome of the research trip What’s up, what’s down. Cultural catalysts in Urban Space, organized and funded by Fonds BKVB in October 2010. More info.

My one minute video Dwelling is selected for TUFF, the Toronto Urban Film Festival, from September 9 till 18. TUFF is seen by an audience of over 1.3 million daily commuters on the subway platforms of Toronto's transit system. Dwelling will be screened throughout September 9 and has been awarded an Honourable Mention by guest judge Atom Egoyan.

The video Video is part of Selametan Digital at Langgeng Art Foundation in Jogjakarta, an all night long show with video and new media arts. May 12, 4 PM till 4 AM. Other artists include Nam June Paik, Joseph Beuys, OK Video Militia and Sara Nuytemans.

Two videos that I shot in South Africa in 2010 are nominated for the Belgian Open Grand Final: My President and Steel Wool (i.c.w. Senzo Shabangu). They are part of the City One Minutes Johannesburg. The Belgian Open Grand Final takes place April 30 at Cinema Sphinx in Ghent, Belgium.

My one minute video Joburg Art Fair, part of City One Minutes Johannesburg, is nominated for a One Minute Award in the category Fairground Attraction by jury member Arjanne Laan of Willem de Kooning Academy. The One Minutes Awards takes place in EYE Film Institute in Amsterdam. March 17, 7 PM.

December 23 was the opening of my exhibition in Papa Adama Gallery at Ruysdaelkade 159, Amsterdam. All videos and photos in the show were shot in Africa or have a relation with the African diaspora. Until January 31, 2011.

November 8 till 18 I give two video workshops in Skopje, Republic of Macedonia. Presentation on the 19th at noon in the EU Info Centre. Assigned by The One Minutes and Unicef. Watch videos.

City One Minutes Port-au-Prince is one of the selected cities at an exhibition in Beursschouwburg in Brussels, Belgium. I.c.w. De Buren. Opening October 6 at 7 PM. Till November 6, 2010.

'Gold digger in Joburg', a solo exhibition in South Africa House in Amsterdam shows works from my residence at The Bag Factory in Johannesburg. Open: Tuesday till Friday 10 AM till 4 PM. Finissage on the last day of the show: Friday October 22, from 4 till 6 PM.

October 1 till 17 I participate in the research trip What’s up, what’s down. Cultural catalysts in Urban Space. A group of twenty artists, architects, designers and writers investigates urban transformations of "secondary cities" in North-England (Liverpool, Manchester, Leeds), the Balkan (Tirana, Skopje, Prishtina), Spanish Basque Country (Bilbao, Vitoria) and Marseille.
The trip is organized and funded by Fonds BKVB Amsterdam.

Sunday July 4 the light sculptures of the Arabic words Hounek & 'Houne' are exhibited in the garden of the R.C. church St. Martinus in my birth place Beek, Limburg, in the south of the Netherlands.

The video Balls and Girls and the photo Marcelo, 2006 are exhibited at Erotomania, an International Display of Erotica, at the Candycoated Center in Philadelphia. March 26 till May 22.

The Bag Factory in Johannesburg, South Africa, invited me for an artist-in-residence from January 14 till April 4. On a regular basis I publish about my experiences on Fotolog.
The outcomes of the residence are exhibited in the group show Losing Virginity. Opening March 24, 5.30 PM. Till March 31.

Scraping is selected for the Dutch One Minutes exhibition in New York. This exhibition is part of Going DUTCH and shows the best One Minutes of the past 10 years. Aperture Building, 547 W 27th st. Lasts until December 12. I'm in NYC November 13-16.

Contemporary art space Crane Arts in Philadelphia, invited me to represent the first international exhibitor to incorporate their new video system in the Icebox with the video-installation 40,000 Feet.
Next to this the video Oscarland is playing in the lobby of Crane.

My short videos Crossing and Scraping are part of the upcoming Rotterdam VHS festival. August 15, 9 PM at Kunst & Complex, Keileweg 26, Rotterdam.

I'm invited to run a workshop from July 31 till August 4 in Belgrade for young people to raise awareness about environmental issues through art and media, assisted by Stefan Malesevic. The outcome will be presented at the 4th International Youth Media Summit, led by Miomir Rajcevic.

The videos Mercedes Benz and Crossing are part of the World One Minutes show in Today Art Museum in Beijing, China. June 6 till 28, 2008. The exhibition travels in 2008 and 2009 to Prato (IT), Brussels (BE), Lisbon (PT), Paramaribo (SR), Sao Paulo (BR), Cape Town (ZA), Cairo (EG).

Godot in Cuba is on the dvd of Screen Capricious, a collection of short films published by Capricious magazine. A screening of the dvd takes palce in the gallery on 103 Broadway, Brooklyn, NYC, on February 24.

Late April and early May 2007 I am part of the annual research trip of the Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam. 44 people travel to Baku in Azerbaijan, the northern part of Iran and Yerevan in Armenia. There is a blogspot, which is updated soon.

One; & the other painting, a groupshow in W139/Basement in Amsterdam. I participate with the pieces Lieve and Oscarland. Opening April 7th. The show lasts till the auction on April 29th from 3-5 PM.

April 20 till 22 the polaroid-video is part of 'S5' in Scheltema i.c.w. Museum De Lakenhal in Leiden. The groupshow contains works of a.o. Joost Conijn, Chris Keulemans, Remy Jungerman and Philippe Pareno/Douglas Gordon.
On March 9th the helicopter-video is screened at Labland in BG, Amsterdam. 
On February 23rd I talk about the piece in De Veemvloer, Amsterdam within the program On The Road.
From January 11th till February 21st the new work is in 't Hoogt, Utrecht.

WAS is part of the exhibition De Witte Lijn in De Baarsjes, Amsterdam. The 6 hour performance WAS took place in the Marco Polostraat. The show, the white line through the neighborhood, will end at July 2nd 2006.
