Su Tomesen is a visual artist who lives and works in Amsterdam. In 2007 she obtained her MA in Fine Art at the Sandberg Institute in Amsterdam.
Her work consists of videos, photographs and installations. Her videos and photographs, often dealing with situations in public space, are shot in the Netherlands, Japan, Egypt, Albania, Cuba, China and Brazil etc. Her installations evolve out of the context of the location where the work is presented. In the installations the presence of and interaction with the audience plays an important role.
Recently she had works in various group and solo exhibitions like: 40,000 Feet, a solo in the Icebox, Philadelphia; Going DUTCH, New York City; VIBA festival Buenos Aires; Polderlicht, Amsterdam; Perspectives, Bucharest; World One Minutes, Beijing; THERE, a solo in Makan House, Amman.
Next to her work as an artist she teaches video workshops for The One Minutes foundation and Unicef. She also curated the video project City One Minutes Amman, Buenos Aires, Port-au-Prince and Rio de Janeiro. At the time of writing she is setting up City One Minutes Johannesburg.
