Albania/Armenia/Cuba/Jordan/the Netherlands 2008 Single-channel video DV-pal, 4:3, colour, stereo, 5'20" Exhibition: Perspectives, international feminist art exhibition in Anaid gallery in Bucharest, Romania, 2008 Curated by Olivia Nitis The video Balls and Girls is about courage. The video is constructed around the outcome of a medical project: research into the anatomy of the clitoris in an aroused state, using MRI scans. The fact that researchers make scans while women bring themselves to orgasm in an MRI scan could be described as feminist in itself. I compared the story of the trip inside the scan to my travels over the last few years. If "having balls" is synonymous for being a courageous person, I guess I'm one of them. Financial support for the trip to Romania: Embassy of the Netherlands in Bucharest A dvd has been released by the Leids Cytologisch en Pathalogisch Laboratorium. The design of the dvd was done by Ankie Stoutjesdijk. Two dvd's will be auctioned at the 2009 Space 1026 Art Auction on December 11, 2009 at Space 1026 in Philadelphia.
